MinistriesHow do I get involved at Winstanley?

Men’s Ministries

Brotherhood

is a men's fellowship that seeks to help the church perform the task of teaching missions to men and boys, engaging them in mission action and leading them to support world missions through prayer and giving. The Brotherhood meets monthly for a breakfast at the church and has special projects within the church. The group sponsors the Challengers, Royal Ambassadors and participates with the Promise Keepers ministry.

R.O.M.E.O.

"Retired Old Men Eating Out" began to provide the interim pastor an opportunity of becoming better acquainted. It has become a time of fellowship and sharing. Often discussions center around what needs to be done that day or week at the church. It is open to anyone who desires to attend.

Baptist Men On Missions

"Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another", Proverbs 27: 17. Baptist Men on Mission is a church-based, Southern Baptist adult mission education organization for men ages 18 and up. Our goal is to provide trained effective mission workers for the local church's mission efforts. Baptist Men On Mission will assist individual Christians and churches in understanding and living biblical mission education principles that lead them to be actively on missions with God. The organization encourages a spiritual change in individuals by helping them discover their place and purpose in God's mission. Baptist Men on Mission meet regularly, communicate, hold each other accountable, identify mission fields, and apply mission skills to those fields. All of these activities are done with one purpose in mind: To communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Women’s Ministries

Women's Missionary Union (WMU)

is an organization through which women of any age can grow in their relationship with Christ and become involved in missions through ongoing groups and individual participation. WMU enable women to fulfill God's purpose for their lives through missions involvement. They meet monthly to learn about missions, pray for and give to missions, grow spiritually, participate in the work of the church and the denomination, and do ministry and witnessing projects. They sponsor Acteens, Girls in Action, and Mission Friends.

Youth and Children’s Ministries

Mission Friends

teach preschoolers about God and how He loves the people of the world. They explore the world and learn what missionaries are doing. Many activities are planned to teach the preschooler how to help others in the community and in their church. This helps preschoolers move from a self-centered focus to a focus on others, to become aware that not everyone knows of God’s love, and to understand ways they can help others know about God’s love. It is the beginning on a life long missions learning experience.

Girls In Action

is a missions focused group for girls in grades first through sixth. GAs meet every Wednesday evening to learn about our missionaries who are sent across our nation and around the world to tell others about Jesus. GAs learn that they can be missionaries right where they live. They recognize that people have needs which the girls can help meet and to know that God has given them skills and abilities they can use to help others. Activities include crafts, games, parties, get-togethers and just having fun.

Acteens

is a missions organization for girls in grades 7 through 12. It provides an opportunity for growth in understanding God, self and others while being involved in a variety of missions-related activities. Through missions, Acteens glorify the Lord and reach others with the message Jesus Christ. A variety of activities reflect Acteens involvement in missions and commitment to spiritual growth, including mission projects; member-led studies of relevant issues and current events, as well as missionaries and their work; individual achievement in MissionsQuest; recognition services for individual achievements in the areas of missions and mission study; and fellowship opportunities, including national and state conferences, sleepovers and informal get-togethers.

Challengers

ministry is to mobilize young men in grades 7 through 12 to find and fill their unique place as on-mission Christians. Challengers is a continuation of the Royal Ambassadors.

Royal Ambassadors

is an organization through which boys in grades 1 through 6 are involved in missions. Involvement in missions is living one's faith daily, personal experience in witness and ministry, and giving and praying to support persons involved in missions. The RAs program helps boys to become aware of the needs of people around the world and to respond to those needs. The organization seeks to lead them to a personal commitment to Christ and to assist them in their Christian growth experience. Through RAs, they are led to an awareness of their responsibility to Christ and encouraged to become His ambassador.

Youth Ministry

begins with Sunday morning fellowship and Bible study. On Wednesday evenings our youth lead their own worship service and then attend Challengers or Acteens. During the summer, the youth attend youth camp, participate in church mission trips, have weekly fellowship at “Lunch Bunch”, and provide leadership at Vacation Bible School.

Extended Session

follows the Sunday morning Bible Study during the morning worship service. It is a continuation of the Sunday School program for the Preschool Division. This hour of Bible learning activities enhances and reinforces concepts learned in the previous hour's Bible Study. The children are taught about Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through the use of story telling, craft projects, and singing.

Vacation Bible School

is an exciting week in the Summer to enrich children's understanding of the Bible. Each year a specific theme is selected and integrated into all activities used throughout the week. The children are divided into small groups and are rotate through specific activity centers for crafts, music, mission emphasis, snacks, recreation, story time, lesson activities, etc.

Music Ministries

Graded Choirs

are provided for all children from three years old to sixth grade. These choirs encourage our children to sing praises to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and to grow as musicians and worshiper leaders. The choirs perform specials throughout the year.

The Chancel Choir

provides both our adult and college-age members opportunities to serve during the Sunday morning worship service, as well as presenting exciting special seasonal works in a variety of musical and dramatic forms. At all times, we joyfully lift our voices to the Lord! The choir usually sings an anthem and leads in congregational singing. There are no auditions, and the only requirements are that choir members love to sing and want to use their talents in the service of our Lord and Savior.

Handbells

The handbell ministry began in 1987 after receiving our bells in memory of Sharon Sheppard, the daughter of Winstanley's former Minister of Music, Carl Sheppard. The mission of the handbell ministry is to present the very best musical offering to God, to provide support, to be challenged, and to fellowship with other Christians through the gift of music.
