Acteens is a missions organization for girls in grades 7 through 12. Meeting Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, Acteens provides an opportunity for growth in understanding God, self and others while being involved in a variety of missions-related activities. Through missions, Acteens glorify the Lord and reach others with the message Jesus Christ. A variety of activities reflect Acteens involvement in missions and commitment to spiritual growth, including mission projects; member-led studies of relevant issues and current events, as well as missionaries and their work; individual achievement in MissionsQuest; recognition services for individual achievements in the areas of missions and mission study; and fellowship opportunities, including national and state conferences, sleepovers and informal get-togethers.
Missions experiences for Acteens include:
Through prayer, Acteens communicate with God concerning missions work and those involved in it, including themselves. Giving to missions provides financial support for Gods work around the world.
Acteens provides opportunities to be directly involved in ministry and witness. Recent projects have included collecting canned food, visiting nursing homes and members in the hospital, collecting winter clothing for area children, and providing school supplies for the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Using Accent magazine as a guide, Acteens expand their awareness of global missions issues, missionary examples, spiritual development, contemporary youth issues, and the biblical basis of missions. MissionsQuest, an individual achievement plan, provides further opportunities to learn about and participate in missions work.
Acteens grow in their understanding of Who God is and what He calls them to do, developing a closer relationship to the Lord that leads them to become more involved in missions.
Acteens become more aware and involved in what the church and the Southern Baptist denomination are doing especially in the area of missions.
