In the mid 1990's the Winstanley Baptist Church began to anticipate the construction of a new sanctuary. Pastor Wendell Garrison appointed a study committee and later a building committee. But along the way with remarkable unity the building committee decided that what the church really needed was a new fellowship hall, a preschool suite, administrative offices, a new entrance with a spacious foyer, and renovation of the existing sanctuary. So the committee brought a series of recommendations to the church which each time unanimously approved the committee's new direction. And now upon completion of the building program the whole church thanks the Lord for His leadership.

The completion of the building program, however, is a kind of beginning rather than an end. The church now faces the exciting challenge to use the beautiful new facilities to better serve the needs of the whole metropolitan area.

July 1999 - Ground Breaking

In July of 1999 the church staged a unique ground breaking ceremony. The entire congregation using a very long rope pulled an antique farm plow. Senior Pastor Wendell Garrison, dressed appropriately in overalls, walked behind in the furrow.

August 1999 - New Entrance

In August the construction crew tackled their job in dead earnest, removing dirt and pouring concrete.

September 1999 - Laying the Foundation

In September the foundation was marked, more dirt was removed, as well as some of the parking lot, and the concrete was poured.
