What is a Turtle Race?
Each boy is given a piece of wood shaped like a turtle which they paint.
To begin a race a 15 foot string is strung through a hole located in the head section of the turtle.
The boy holds one end of the string with the turtle positioned at the starting line at other end of the string.
The string is attached to the board about 8 inches above the floor.
To move the turtle the boy pulls the string which raises the turtle and makes its feet move forward.
The string is then relaxed to let the turtle lie face down on the ground.
This process of pulling and relaxing continues until a turtle crossing the finish line.
(this is much easier done than said)
